Geosynthetic solutions for mining applications
Naue develops and manufactures geosynthetic solutions for mining applications. The product range supports key technical requirements in mining projects, including containment, sealing, drainage, separation, filtration, protection, stabilisation and reinforcement. Typical application areas include tailings storage facilities, heap leach pad lining, evaporation ponds, haul roads and geotechnical structures, as well as mine closure and rehabilitation. Naue geosynthetics are designed for demanding mining environments and project-specific technical and regulatory requirements.
Application areas
Mining and geosynthetics: Naue provides geosynthetic system components for mining infrastructure, from containment lining and drainage to ground stabilisation, reinforcement, separation, filtration and protection.
Tailings management: For tailings storage facilities, Naue solutions can be configured for base lining, side slopes, drainage, berm reinforcement and closure capping, depending on project-specific requirements.
Heap leach pad lining: Carbofol® geomembranes, Bentofix® geosynthetic clay liners and Secutex® protection geotextiles form lining systems for primary and secondary containment beneath ore stacks and solution collection areas.
Evaporation ponds: Naue lining systems can be used for mining evaporation ponds that contain process fluids, brines or contaminated water, with system selection based on fluid chemistry, exposure conditions and regulatory requirements.
Haul roads and geotechnical structures: Secugrid® geogrids and Combigrid® geocomposites support stabilisation and reinforcement of haul roads, access roads, working platforms and other load-bearing structures on weak or variable subgrades.
Mine closure and rehabilitation: Naue geosynthetics can be integrated into capping, drainage, protection and erosion control systems for mine closure, tailings remediation and site-specific rehabilitation concepts.
Bentofix®
Geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) for waterproofing and containment
– Sodium bentonite core forms a hydraulic barrier after hydration
– Self-sealing and re-healing properties after minor mechanical damage or differential settlement
– Suitable for landfill, groundwater protection, mining and tunnel waterproofing applications
Carbofol®
HDPE geomembrane for primary containment in mining applications
– Polymeric barrier for leachate, groundwater and process liquids
– Smooth and BF/TF structured grades for flat areas and slope applications
– Available in 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 mm thicknesses with roll widths up to 7.5 m
Combigrid®
Geogrid with integrated nonwoven geotextile for weak subgrades
– Combines stabilisation, reinforcement, separation and filtration in one product
– Suitable for access roads, haul roads and working platforms on weak subgrades
– Helps reduce fines migration into the aggregate layer and supports load distribution
Secugrid®
Geogrid for soil stabilisation and reinforcement
– Stabilises and reinforces roads, embankments, working platforms, slopes and walls
– Textured flat bars interlock with granular material and support load distribution
– High stiffness at low strain helps reduce deformation in project-specific designs
Secutex®
Mechanically bonded nonwoven geotextile for separation, filtration and protection
– Separates soil layers with different grain sizes and retains fine particles
– Allows water to pass through while supporting filter stability
– Protects geomembranes and sensitive layers against mechanical loads
